About
Tomás Peña is a classical guitarist from Chile, based in Köln. It began with the guitar his grandmother gave his brother. He picked it up, and since then he has never wanted to put it down.
He studied in Germany with Hubert Käppel, and in Chile with Romilio Orellana and Ximena Matamoros. He has won prizes at guitar competitions in Chile, Brazil and Germany.
His album Recital 2024 was his Master’s project at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln, recorded in 2024 and released in 2026. It is a solo recital of pieces he enjoyed playing at the time: Giuliani’s Sonata Eroica, Rodrigo’s Invocación y Danza, Bach’s Chaconne, two Schubert songs, and Domeniconi’s Toccata in Blue.
These days it’s about playing music he likes and sharing it with people who might enjoy it too. The same idea runs through his other work: there is a B side of electric guitar, rock and metal, with tracks coming soon, and with Chichio Productions he films and records other musicians, which is another way of being close to music making.
